What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin (0.3 mm) pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain shells. They are custom made to match the shape and color that you desire. What does the process of getting Porcelain Veneers involve?

Prior to any work, the desired improvements and changes are crafted in special dental waxes (wax-up) using models and photographs of your existing teeth and smile. Your Prosthodontist will consult with you about the desired modifications, and together, develop a course of treatment. The course of treatment is usually completed within 2-3 visits. Preparation for porcelain veneers begins with a light buffing and shaping of the teeth. This allows for ultra-thin veneers that provide a seamless appearance and perfect smile. provisional (temporary) veneers are fabricated and bonded to your teeth. This temporary restoration allows the patient to evaluate and modify the color and fit of their final restoration.

On the final visit, your teeth are cleansed and prepared for the durable bonding agents that will secure your new porcelain veneers. These bonding agents are cured using a specialized light that creates the long lasting bond between your teeth and the new veneers.
