What is a Full Mouth Reconstruction?
What is a Full Mouth Reconstruction?

Full mouth reconstruction is typically a combination of crowns, veneers, bridges, and implant restorations. This process has the potential to restore most or all of the teeth and rebuild a functionally comfortable bite and natural-looking and healthy smile.

How does one determine if a Full Mouth Reconstruction is right for them?

Following a comprehensive examination of the teeth and jaws, Dr. Halim will determine if full mouth rehabilitation is the right procedure for you. All aspects of your mouth will be thoroughly examined including your teeth, gums, jaw muscles and joints, and the aesthetics of your teeth. He will determine what kind of condition the mouth is in and what kind of reconstruction is best for you. Treatment options will be discussed with you to determine the best course of action.

What kind of technology is utilized in the process?

Dr. Halim’s restorations are designed according to your unique jaw movements – as recorded by a highly adjustable articulator (a device that simulates your unique jaw movements when making your new teeth). Once your work has been completed, you will experience a long-term result that looks great, feels wonderful, and functions like a well-oiled machine as the new teeth are designed to work in perfect harmony with your jaw joints. You will also be able to avoid all the negative changes (bad looking teeth, loss of chewing function, pain on chewing, unpleasant odor, etc.) that occur when teeth are removed and dentures are placed. You can gain the ability to eat virtually anything and will be able to smile with confidence, knowing that your teeth appear natural.

How long does the process take?

Your full mouth reconstruction will be done in phases and can take up to a year depending on the severity of the damage and the level of reconstruction. If you have a jaw joint disorder, caused by the misalignment of your teeth, your procedure will start with the repositioning of your jaw. Dr. Halim will run several tests to find out which position is most comfortable for you.

This provisional phase is part of your diagnosis during which all required changes to your teeth look and bite take place. During this phase, any other work like dental implants, root canal treatment, etc, will be completed. The final phase of treatment starts with making very precise molds of your teeth and fabrication of the final restorations.
