Inlays and onlays are custom fabricated restorations that are designed to restore missing portions of your natural back teeth.  They consist of a solid substance (usually gold or porcelain) fitted to a cavity in a tooth and then bonded into place.  These restorations are designed to be more precise and last longer than conventional fillings.

Inlays and onlays are fabricated in the dental laboratory in the same manner as a crown.  Dental impressions are often mad in order to properly construct the inlay or onlay outside of the mouth.  Once it’s completed, the restoration is permanently bonded to replace the missing structure of your natural tooth.  The procedure is often completed in two to three visits.
